About the Choir

Pangbourne Choral Society is a thriving, non-audition choral society based in Pangbourne, Berkshire, with over 100 active members. We rehearse and hold concerts in The Falkland Islands Memorial Chapel at Pangbourne College.

Our repertoire is mainly focused on the larger choral works, recent examples being Bach's St John Passion, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Handel’s Messiah, and requiems by Fauré, Britten and Verdi. The summer concert normally consists of a lighter, more mixed programme. 2013-2014 was our 40th Anniversary Season, during which we staged an extraordinary anniversary concert where our then current and former musical directors conducted works such as Fauré's Cantique de Jean Racine and Vaughan Williams's Toward the Unknown Region. In 2018 an inspiring performance of the Mozart Requiem was followed by a lighter songs from the shows concert in June. Last March we performed Puccini's Messa di Gloria and Poulenc's Gloria alongside a large orchestra, with a lighter programme of spirituals in June.

The major work for the 2019/2020 season will be the stunning Brahms Requiem.

Full details of future and past concerts and works are on our Performances pages, including ticket information when available.
